Case study Aerated Lagoons

Upgrading of an unaerated lagoon (1.600 p.e.)

Due to odor problems around the unaerated lagoon of a wastewater treatment plant in Germany the plant was converted into an aerated plant equipped with OXYSTAR Aerators and a CENTROX Aerator. After the upgrade the plant now basically consists of an operation building with screen, an aerated settling pond, two aerated lagoons operated in series and a final sedimentation and polishing pond. Design capacity is now 1,600 p.e.

  • After the upgrade with FUCHS Aerators no significant odors 
  • No operation problems due to freezing in winter    
  • Effective oxygen transfer and thorough mixing of the liquid are now carried out by the FUCHS CENTROX Aerator and FUCHS OXYSTAR Aerators.
  • To follow the actual oxygen demand the aerators are operated intermittently, this leading to optimized operation cost.
  • Easy control of FUCHS Aerators by means of a timer
  • Unaerated lagoons can easily be converted with FUCHS Aerators (water depth should exceed 80 cm)
