Carrousel Ditch - Supplemental Aeration

An oxidation ditch of a municipal WWTP in the United Kingdom was upgraded to meet with increasing loads. Key requirements were additional oxygen transfer and ditch operation during upgrade works without service break. Other requests were ease of access and aerosol-free aeration.

Information

  • The FUCHS OXYSTAR Aerators are installed with customized suspension frames made of hot-dip galvanized steel fixed at existing service bridges.
  • The upgrade with FUCHS OXYSTAR Aerators was conducted without service break. The basins did not have to be drained.
  • Adjustment to the actual oxygen demand during nitrification is realized by switching the aerators on or off.
  • During the anoxic denitrification phases the aerators stay switched off.
  • No spray water, minimum noise.
  • Easy access for maintenance.
