Aeration of Sewage Sludge

A case study from Germany

To achieve thorough stabilization and keep sludge fresh a sludge tank in Germany was equipped with a top-mounted FUCHS CENTROX Aerator with Foam Control. This CENTROX excells in simultaneous aeration, mixing and foam control. Mounted on a flotation it is easily installed and adapts to varying filling levels. 

With a diameter of 12 m and a max. filling level of 4 m the reactor has a volume of 450 m³. Incompletely stabilized sludge from several wastewater treatment plants is aerated and then applied to the drying beds of a humification plant. The process ensures low odor emission. 

The aeration period depends on the quality of the sludge. Flexible adjustment saves
power costs.
